     After This Crash

love and hate -
   how do we feel both.
you cut us right -
   to our soul.
asleep or awake -
   the pain just won't fade.
who was there before -
   you took up all this space?
we don't know -
   don't think we ever will.
"our" end was us -
   but mostly you.
why didn't you try -
   to stop the fall.
when it all crashed down.

there's so much blame -
   and yes some shame.
we could beg but not -
   while you're still the same.
is there any hope -
   that you could try.
or just like fall -
   are "we" a leaf that's turned.
and so we cry -
   the ashes of "our" future.
and there is you -
   you could be a beautiful creature.
what can we say -
   why did you do as you did.
to make it all crash down.
