The Ghost Of . . .

 

            The Ghost of . . .

As always the pain was there . . .

But there were a few nights . . .

And they, were all we'd dreamed of.

Love was the thing . . .

But we felt as if our past was following us.

And we  knew we weren't wrong . . .

It was the ghost of what we wanted to be

And it's the ghost of the past that we live in

It's just the ghost of what we really want

And it's the ghost of a chance that we live for

And it's a ghostly future we are frightened of

So we looked for an angel.

So long ago we were an innocent . . .

That has nothing to do with age . . .

"We" were never lovers. 

"We" were only friends . . .

There is nothing really more to say.

Just the ghost of what we want to see

And it's the ghost of the past that we live in

It's a ghostly future that we're so frightened of

So we turn away from angels.

So the silver-eyed boy looks for absolution . . .

Trying to fill the empty spaces we're feeling . . .

We cling to our music like a savior.

And we know it's no good to fall in love again . . .

We were in love . . .

She was just in like . . .

Sadly that's all there really is to say.

It was the ghost of chance of what we wanted to see

The ghost of the past we feel trapped in

The ghostly future that we're so frightened of

But we turn away from illusions . . .

        Wrong Night

we'd  set our mind to it, 
knew we weren't gonna do it.
we wouldn't give our heart up, 
keeping our guard up.
then you walked in,
with your sad half grin.
everything we swore before,
flew right out the door . . .
as we got lost in your eyes.

Suddenly we heard love songs everywhere.
Walking on the moon in a star filled sky.
Like gravity or destiny there was nothing we could do.
Looks like we picked the wrong night -
Not to fall in love with you. 

so briefly we resisted, 
but our heart insisted.
hard as we where trying, 
there was just no denying. 
it felt almost a sin,
to so easily give in.
walking beside us,
we felt everything but lust . . .
and then you took our hand.
