      The Letting Go III

we think we should let you know,
   you’re wanting to go,
     is showing through.
you had finally met our son,
   as “we” become one
     a dream coming true.
that is all we’ve ever wanted, all along.
now we have to say goodbye -
since your feelings have died -
this burns so slow . . .
   . . . the letting go.

brick by brick we’ll have to start,
   rebuilding the heart,
     we gave to you.
this time it had seemed so real,
   as we relearned to feel,
     the way that lovers do.
that's all we ever wanted, to be.
closer that “we” got, the further it seemed.
it seems your feelings have changed -
and our own skin feels strange -
a lonely road . . .
   . . . the letting go

Ready to embrace new life,
   instead we break.
Well our sight grows dim,
   yet we are wide-awake.
All the many sleepless nights,
   when we thought you cared.
Well the jokes on us,
   cause it was never there.

crushing in the silence
living in this empty space
watch the ticking of the clock
whose hands are laughing in our face
and we just don't want to be lonely
night and day
and as we look around us
we just feel that way
only lonely

We thought we’d found something,
   good for our heart and our head.
And we tried to forget,
   that dream wants to stay dead.
Yet we opened up our mind,
   to all that love embraced.
