      The Letting Go III

we think we should let you know,
   you’re wanting to go,
     is showing through.
you had finally met our son,
   as “we” become one
     a dream coming true.
that is all we’ve ever wanted, all along.
now we have to say goodbye -
since your feelings have died -
this burns so slow . . .
   . . . the letting go.

brick by brick we’ll have to start,
   rebuilding the heart,
     we gave to you.
this time it had seemed so real,
   as we relearned to feel,
     the way that lovers do.
that's all we ever wanted, to be.
closer that “we” got, the further it seemed.
it seems your feelings have changed -
and our own skin feels strange -
a lonely road . . .
   . . . the letting go

the letting go
