Bridge Wood
Bridge Wood
we use the bridge wood –
to build the fire high
the tears of innocence –
burning up the sky
we had built up a dream –
like the surging sea
then poured out the ashes –
in an ocean of debris
we’re swimming in the smoke
of the bridges we have burned
don't bother to apologize
we're losing what we don't deserve
we hold our breath –
as the clouds began to form
then we get lost –
in the beating of the storm
and in the end –
“we” were meant to be apart
ripping in half –
our still beating heart
we're swimming in the smoke
of all the bridges that have burned
don't try and apologize
we've lost what we didn't deserve
all the blackened bones -
all the bridges that have burned
swimming through the smoke -
flying through the sky
the blame is ours alone -
better we should have known
so the bridges we let burn -
no need for apologies -
we’re losing everything we didn't deserve
here's some more dead wood -
build the fires high . . .
the tears, the blood, the innocence –
burning up the sky
