The Endless In Between
The Endless In Between
Where do we go from here?
How do we carry on?
We can't get beyond the questions.
Clambering through the wreckage.
In the shatter of us collapsed.
The cuts of every could-have-been.
Pain on pain on play, repeating
With the backup makeshift life in waiting.
Everybody says that time heals all wounds.
But how do you fill wretched hollow?
The endless in-between?
Are we just going to wait it out?
There's nothing to see here now.
Just move along, don’t turn around.
We're closed to dreams 'til further notice.
Clambering for the scraps,
Splintered mind collapse.
We've closed up shop 'til further. . .
An all-out one on one street-level cynic.
We'll be an out-and-out, tearful mimic.
Everybody says that time heals all wounds.
But how do you fill the wretched hollow?
The endless in-between?
Are we just going to wait it out?
And sit here cold?
Look, we'll be long gone by then.
The lackluster in-the-dust we lay.
Fluorescent lighting sets the scene
For all we could and should have been.
In the end, life got what it wanted.
Everybody says that time wounds all heels.
Left with this wretched hollow.
And the endless in-between.
Waiting for the lights to go out.
